About me
Liz Barrera-Sepulveda is a licensed professional counselor and has worked with victim/survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault for more than 25 years. She currently works with Texas RioGrande Legal Aid on the LASSA project, with the social work team and family law team.
She is trained in Trauma Informed Care and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused-CBT and Motivational Interviewing. She has worked with the National Domestic Violence Hotline, Austin SAFEPLACE, (n/k/a as the SAFE Alliance). She has worked and volunteered in the past at the Corpus Christi Women’s Shelter of South Texas (n/k/a The Purple Door). She has worked professionally in psychiatric hospitals in Houston at Cypress Creek Hospital and has worked as a therapist in the geriatric and adult units and as a clinical program manager at Northwest Behavioral (n/k/a Bayview Behavioral) in Corpus Christi. She has worked with victims of sexual and domestic violence, including human trafficking/labor trafficking, and offered counseling support to non-citizens who were victims of violence and seeking immigration support while working at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston in the community counseling department. Liz continues to offer individual counseling support on the BetterHelp platform.
Liz holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas in Austin and a master’s degree from Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
